Clean Up Your Room Day!
Now this is my kind of holiday…for my kids to celebrate anyway. And, if yours are like mine they are always coming home from daycare, pre-school or a playdate with an extra special stamp or praise from another parent because they were rockstars at cleaning up. Seriously! Why is that they are always so motivated to pick up after themselves everywhere else BUT in their own home?
As I started preparing for this “holiday” it got me thinking about chores and job charts. A few months ago my husband and I decided our three year old was ready for her first chore. Since she isn’t motivated by anything sweet, and she’s too young to earn an allowance, we went with stickers for rewards. I created a job chart out of glitter glue and colorful marker and assigned her first job: placing her pajamas into the laundry hamper in the morning and then her clothes at the end of the day. To our delight (okay, I’ll be honest we were slightly shocked) she started off strong and was really excited to complete her tasks and get her stickers. I guess ballerinas have more power than I initially thought! She still does a pretty good job after several months with a little coaxing every now and then. Next up, to clear her dishes from the dinner table. Though, I’m not going to lie, this one gives me a little bit of anxiety for I fear the added mess on the kitchen floor from falling food. But, I’ll just have to get over it in the spirit of teaching responsibility!
In celebration of Clean Up Your Room Day and to help make it easier to jump-start chores in your household we’ve created an official Duck Duck Moose downloadable job chart. Happy Cleaning!

Cleverly Designed Trucks Out of Food (The Dangers of Fast food)
Fun Times with “Fast Food”:
Yet another lesson in how a small idea can snowball into something (much) larger and more fun.I have to admit, I spend an inordinate amount of time gawking at cute food on Pinterest so it didn’t surprise me when a simple brainstorm on launching our new app, More Trucks, turned into a smattering of vegetables, cheese and baguettes. Whenever you involve four designers, one animator and a sound guy in any project it tends to get bigger, messier and so much more fun.
We created cars, trucks, and stop lights out of the vegetables, cheese and baguettes and then carted them outside to take some pictures. Pictures quickly turned into stop motion animation and the rest was history. Check out “The Dangers of Fast Food” starring Grandpa Gouda and Rudy the Racing Radish.
